In May 2006, Bill Kong announced that he was producing a live-action film adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire, directed by Ronny Yu. Like the source anime, it would be primarily filmed in English rather than Japanese. Kong and Yu originally planned to finance the project themselves, but in November 2006, Production I.G officially consented to the film and began offering financial support. Rather than being paid a straight license, Production I.G will receive a percentage of all revenues generated by the film. Through ties to Manga Entertainment, the French company Pathé became the film’s co-production company, joining the Hong Kong-based Edko. Yu was retained as its producer, but Chris Nahon took over as the film’s director.

In early announcements, it was stated that the film would be set in 1948 at a United States Army camp in Tokyo, shortly after the conclusion of World War II during the American occupation of Japan. During production, the film was shifted to be set in the 1970s instead.

Pending confirmation from toxicology reports, he was allegedly administered Demerol shortly before he stopped breathing. Attempts at resuscitating him by his personal physician were unsuccessful. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics received a 911 call at 12:22 p.m. (PDT), arriving three minutes and seventeen seconds later at Jackson’s location. He was reportedly not breathing and CPR was performed. Resuscitation efforts continued both en route to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and for an hour further after arriving at approximately 1:13 p.m. (20:13 UTC). He was noted to have been in cardiac arrest by the paramedics who attended him at his house. Jackson was pronounced dead at approximately 2:25 p.m. local time (21:25 UTC). Rumors and news of Jackson’s death broke web records triggering a cyberspace traffic jam giving Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Yahoo their highest traffic on record. According to Rockstar’s Sam Houser, they are starting a new chapter of Max’s life with the game. “This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever.” Since the last game, the press release states Max has left New York behind and has “drifted from bad to worse”. The press release then goes on to say Max has been double-crossed in this new city and he is searching for the truth and a way out.

A recent issue of Game Informer has revealed that the story is set 12 years after the last game. Payne has been cut loose from the NYPD, and has moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil where he’s taken up employment in the private security sector, working for a wealthy local family.

Similar to the game based on the first movie, Revenge of the Fallen will feature two separate campaigns; one depicting the actions of the Autobots, and the other the actions of the Decepticons. The game will expand on the movie plot with additional missions and characters. Unlike its predecessor, Revenge of the Fallen will feature a hub-like, non-linear mission progression; allowing the player to choose what missions they would like to accomplish and where in order to further drive the story.

Multiplayer has been confirmed, featuring five different modes. Deathmatch will allow players to choose any character in a free-for-all battle. Team Deathmatch will feature Autobots vs Decepticons. Control Points features gameplay similar to the Star Wars Battlefront series, with teams battling for control of specific areas to gain points One Shall Stand is similar to Team Deathmatch; the difference being that the sole objective is to take out the enemy leader (Optimus Prime or Megatron) while protecting your own. Finally Battle for the Shards featuring Capture the Flag-style gameplay; teams search for shards of the allspark and return them to their base to earn points.

Dream Theater began work on the album in October 2008. Mike Portnoy described Black Clouds & Silver Linings as, “a Dream Theater album with “A Change of Seasons”, “Octavarium”, “Learning to Live”, “Pull Me Under” and “The Glass Prison” all on one album.” Jordan Rudess later explained, “We’ve been entering into the Gothic domain quite a bit on this album. There’s nothing like a really, really powerful and cool choir sound.” In an interview with Eddie Trunk, Portnoy stated that the album would be around 75 minutes and consist of “four epics and two singles”. Portnoy also confirmed that the album’s cover was created by Hugh Syme; artist of Octavarium and Systematic Chaos. Portnoy confirmed that “The Shattered Fortress” would be the final song of his Twelve-step Suite. Lyrics for the album were written by Portnoy and John Petrucci. A video was shot in March 2009 for the album’s first single, “A Rite of Passage”. Dream Theater will support the album on a world tour and on the second Progressive Nation tour.

In a publicity stunt at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Sacha Baron Cohen appeared as Brüno to present the award for Best Male Performer. Dressed as a winged angel wearing a jockstrap and white go-go boots, he was suspended on wires and flew over the audience towards the stage. However, before he made it to the stage, he fell and landed on rapper Eminem, with his head in Eminem’s lap and his buttocks in front of Eminem’s face. Eminem shouted “You freakin serious?” and “Get this motherfucker off me!” with the live censors unable to completely block the profanity in his outburst, until they completely cut off the audio (this despite the event being staged). Eminem and his entourage then walked out of the show and didn’t return. It was later revealed that Eminem and Cohen had staged this whole event, even rehearsing it beforehand to make sure it went off without a hitch. Zac Efron, who won the award, commented on this in his acceptance speech by saying “That was weird. That is the coolest way I’ve ever been called up to win one of these.”

The Sixth season starts on July 12, 2009.[ HBO confirmed on October 6, 2008, that Entourage has been renewed for a sixth season with filming set to begin in March 2009. Gary Cole has been confirmed to be joining the cast as a regular for the new season. Lil’ Wayne is expected to appear in an episode as himself. Tom Brady will be a special guest in an episode, as well. Autumn Reeser will also appear as a new junior agent at Miller-Gold. Swarnendra Verma will be a special guest in the second episode. On March 6 2009, Dan Patrick of Sports Illustrated reported on his radio show that LeBron James would also make a cameo in an episode. Los Angeles Lakers’ center Andrew Bynum is also expected to cameo. Steve Nash, the point guard of the Phoenix Suns, has also revealed via his Twitter that he will also have a cameo appearance in the season premiere. Actress Jami Gertz will also be joining the cast, she will play Gary Cole’s wife. Aaron Sorkin recently confirmed on his Facebook Group he would be guest appearing on the show as himself. Israeli 2004 Miss Israel Gal Gadot will act as Vince’s girlfriend for several chapters. Also, in late February, 2009 it was confirmed that Alexis Dziena has been cast to play Ashley, a new “love interest” for Kevin Connolly’s character, Eric. Kate Mara will be joining the cast of Entourage this season, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Mara will play E’s new assistant at his fledgling talent-management company, and perhaps his love interest as well. Also Zac Efron will be making a cameo as he was filming on June 1st, 2009 at the Hollywood NikeTown.

Chinatown Wars has a different presentation from previous games in the series. Instead of a ground-level view behind the protagonist or a top-down perspective, Chinatown Wars uses a fully rotatable aerial camera angled down at the action. Chinatown Wars also uses cel-shaded polygons with black outlines to produce a comic book-like aesthetic — a first for the series. The title takes place in the Grand Theft Auto IV rendition of Liberty City, with the exception of Alderney.

Unlike Grand Theft Auto IV, the player can disable as many cop cars as possible to escape the police instead of leaving a “wanted zone”. The more stars the player has, the more cops they have to take out for each level. For example, for a six star level, they have to take out six cop cars to get down to a five star wanted level, and so on. For most of the driving and on-foot action, the touch screen is styled after a PDA interface. There is also a drug dealing sub plot which allows players to peddle six types of drugs around the city. Players can make a profit by recognizing market conditions and demands based on geography and plying their wares accordingly. Shootable CCTV cameras work as this game’s secret packages which will also lower the drug prices when destroyed. The top screen shows the game, while the lower screen lets players control elements like the PDA, GPS, the radio (mostly instrumental music), access to the people on the map, or using Molotov cocktails and grenades. Chinatown Wars applies many Grand Theft Auto IV features such as the new next gen HUD and taxi whistling supported by DS microphone. Ammu-nation returns in the form of an in-game website where the player can order various weapons through their PDA to be delivered to their safehouse. Official Nintendo Magazine described the game as “one of the largest, most complex DS games ever made”, with over 900,000 lines of code.
